Ja’Niya Mincey, fifth grader at Machen Elementary School, gives opening at the March 26 School Board meeting

 

Ja’Niya Mincey, a fifth grader at Machen Elementary School, was selected to give the opening at the March 26, 2025, School Board meeting. She read a selection called Same Song by Pat Mora. 

Ja’Niya’s interests include painting and playing goalie on the soccer team. Her favorite subject is science.

Ja’Niya’s mother, sister, cousin, grandparents, Machen principal Mario Barkley, and assistant principal Sandra Taylor joined her at the meeting.
