Phoebus culinary team advances to national HUNCH competition

The Phoebus High School culinary team Galaxy Phantom Six competed in the NASA Langley Research Center HUNCH competition on February 25, 2025, and took home first place. The team along with their Jamaican rasta pasta dish will travel to Houston, TX on April 8, 2025, to compete at the Johnson Space Center.

The team, under the leadership of Chef Travis Walker, consists of Andros Romo Melo, Dasha Edmunds, Arianna Morgan, Samir Clemente, Diamond Fulton, and Makhi Johnson.

“We are proud of our culinary students for their success in the NASA HUNCH competition,” said Phoebus executive principal David Coccoli. “The students’ success demonstrates our purpose of greatness every day in every way.”

The Phoebus culinary team has won nationally two previous times in 2015 and 2019.

The HUNCH mission is to empower and inspire students through a Project-Based Learning program where high school students learn 21st-century skills and have the opportunity to launch their careers through participation in the design and fabrication of real-world valued products for NASA.
