In addition, she was waitlisted at Emory University, University of Michigan, Princeton University, and Vanderbilt University. She has decided to attend the University of Virginia to major in biochemistry and minor in an engineering discipline. After college graduation she plans to attend medical school and pursue a career as a physician, ideally in a surgical specialty. She also hopes to remain involved in biomedical research, continuing to explore ways to improve patient outcomes through innovation and clinical application.

Fondest high school memory:
“My fondest high school memory was my time at the Governor’s School for Science and Technology, where I was surrounded by driven peers who shared my passion for learning. Beyond the academics, it was the friendships I built with people who truly understood and supported me that made the experience so meaningful and unforgettable.”

A tradition at school you will miss:

“I will miss Rock the Green and Gold.”

An achievement you are most proud of:

“I am most proud of becoming a leader who is able to balance rigorous academics with meaningful leadership, service, and athletics while staying grounded in personal growth. Through experiences such as mentoring middle school students in STEM outreach, leading my Math Honor Society projects, and serving as captain of my volleyball and softball teams, I learned how to guide others, build confidence in those around me, and contribute to something larger than myself.”

I am proud to be an HCS graduate because:

“I am proud to be an HCS graduate because Hampton City Schools has provided me with the opportunities to challenge myself academically while growing as a leader and community member. Through programs like the Governor’s School for Science and Technology and experiences in athletics, service, and research, I’ve been able to develop both intellectually and personally in a supportive and motivating environment.”

If you could thank a teacher who had the greatest impact on you, who would it be and why?

“Mrs. Barney has had a profound impact on my growth by encouraging me to step outside of my comfort zone and believe in my abilities. She challenged me to think critically and pushed me to pursue excellence, not just academically but personally. Her support helped shape my confidence and motivated me to take on leadership roles and new opportunities.”

If you could thank a teacher who had the greatest impact on you, who would it be and why?

“I would thank my law teacher Ms. Pate. She made her classroom more than a learning environment; she created an experience. She teaches her students the skills needed for all professions, which allows her to reach every student, not just students interested in law. She is an exceptional teacher, and an overall kind spirit.”
