HCS holds Fourth Annual Crabber Invitational for special needs high school students
Approximately 130 high school students participated in the Fourth Annual Crabber Invitational on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Hampton High School hosted by the Health, Human & Financial Services Academy. This event is a specialized field day designed to meet the diverse needs of all self-contained, special education students, from the four high schools.
The day began with an opening ceremony, that included a parade of the schools, followed by students participating in a variety of activities and events. Students especially enjoyed the dance party at the end of the event.
Kimberly Judge, director of Hampton City School special education department, shared the following:
“This event is a powerful example of what inclusive education should look and feel like. Under the leadership of Executive Principal Haneef Majied and Academy Principal Alexandra Snyder, students of all abilities were celebrated as valued members of our learning community. I’m especially grateful to the Academy of Human, Health and Financial Services for supporting this meaningful experience. This is our WHY.”
