Hampton High School baseball heads to regional championship

On Friday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m., top-seeded Hampton High School (HHS), under the leadership of coach Matt Mitchell, will face off against #2 seed Gloucester High School in the Region 4A Baseball Championship at War Memorial Stadium, located at 1889 W. Pembroke Ave. in Hampton.

The Crabbers advanced to the final after a thrilling comeback in the semifinals, rallying from a four-run deficit to defeat Jamestown High School 7–4, thanks to a seven-run explosion in the sixth inning.

Regardless of Friday’s outcome, HHS has already earned a spot in the state tournament—marking the team’s first appearance since 1990. First round for the state championship bracket is scheduled for June 10, with more details to be announced.

Tickets for the region final are $10 and can be purchased online at GoFan.co (Region 4A Champion) or at the gate with a credit card.

Best of luck to the Hampton Crabbers in the Region 4A Championship. You can’t crush a crab!
