Nadiyah Murray of Lindsay Middle School receives the division’s Technology Leadership Award

Hampton City Schools is proud to announce the winner of the 2021-2022 Technology Leadership Award. This year’s winner is Nadiyah Murray, behavior specialist at Lindsay Middle School. She received 22 nominations for the award.

This prestigious award recognizes staff who are at the top of their game when it comes to technology, and who exhibit the best teamwork, leadership, creativity, and innovative spirit to make big things happen with technology.

One colleague shared, “Although it is not part of her job description as a behavior specialist, Ms. Murray has taken on the role of Chromebook czar for Lindsay this school year. She responds quickly any time I let her know that a student needs a replacement computer or charger. Her support has had a huge positive impact on school operations because of the increased overall uptime of student computers throughout the building.”

Another said, “Ms. Murray is a wonderful example of how technology can have a positive impact on our students. She is in constant communication with our parents or guardians. She is the ‘go-to’ person for student Chromebook issues and replacements. We can always depend on her to locate or manage a computer crisis during the school day.”

“It is an honor to receive the prestigious HSC Technology Leadership Award,” said Murray. “I am beyond grateful and honored to be recognized for my efforts, passion, and compassion to assist and support the education of Hampton City Schools’ students. It is rewarding to see the smiles on each student's face as I help each of them with their technology needs. I look forward to continuing to serve our students and represent this great honor with this powerful quote from Maya Angelou at the forefront of my efforts: ‘People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did.  But people will never forget how you made them feel.’”
