Beyond School Hours Culmination Celebration

Students from 22 Hampton City Schools elementary and middle schools, staff, families, and community partners participated in the Beyond School Hours Culmination Celebration on July 24 at Andrews PreK-8 School and July 25 at Phenix PreK-8 School.

During the summer, the 21st Century Schools Program and University Corner students participated in a five-week enrichment program. This program provided numerous opportunities to inspire young minds, foster curiosity, and cultivate a passion for Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) subjects.

The culmination celebrations spotlighted a wide array of student projects and community collaboration. Attendees witnessed a variety of student projects, including captivating art exhibits, science experiments, and the much-anticipated debut of the middle school's Solar Racers. The celebration extended beyond student work to include incredible community programs that enriched student learning. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about and even participate in activities offered by Enrichment City's Indoor Planetarium, Newport News Shipbuilding's Virtual MX Trailer, Flying Classroom Expeditions, Phoebus Phantom Readers, Hampton Workforce Development, Hampton Police Department, American Red Cross (CPR), and Hampton Healthy Families.

Hampton City Schools' Beyond School Hours instructional program is dedicated to offering a comprehensive education that promotes academic excellence, creativity, and social responsibility. Through strong community partnerships and innovative programs, we aim to empower our students to reach their full potential and become active, contributing members of society.
