Hampton City Schools announces elementary school leadership director

 

During their regular meeting on July 13, 2022, the Hampton School Board appointed Mr. Anthony Perry as a director of elementary school leadership, effective August 1, 2022. This position reports to the chief of elementary school leadership & compensatory programs and is responsible for addressing day-to-day academic and operational school matters as well as collaborating with administrative and curriculum departments to ensure consistency of practice and use of resources. Perry will work closely with elementary administrators to ensure the division’s mission and goals are reached.

 

Mr. Perry has 28 years of experience in education. He began his career in Newport News where he spent 18 years as a first, second, and fifth grade teacher before stepping into the role of an assistant principal. In 2015, Perry was promoted to an elementary principal. During his principalship in Newport News, he served at Title I and non-Title I schools. For the past two years, Mr. Perry has served as a Title I elementary principal in Chesapeake Public Schools.

  

Perry received his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Benedict College and his master’s in reading education from Old Dominion University. Additionally, he has earned his Ed.S. from Old Dominion University.
