Alonzo Coley is named Phoebus High School varsity head football coach
Alonzo Coley has been named the new head varsity football coach at Phoebus High School, bringing a strong background in education leadership, student development, and athletics to the Phantoms’ football program.
Coley’s career reflects a commitment to mentoring students both in the classroom and on the field. His professional experience includes leadership roles that emphasize discipline, teamwork, academic accountability, and character development—key components of a successful student-athlete program.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Coley has demonstrated the ability to collaborate with school leaders, families, and community stakeholders to support student success. His experience in education and youth development positions him to lead Phoebus High School’s football program while reinforcing the school’s academic and cultural expectations.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Alonzo Coley back to Phoebus High School. Coach Coley has spent 10 years as an assistant at Phoebus and knows the high expectations that comes with being the head football coach,” said PHS executive principal David Coccoli. “As a two-time Coach of the Year while serving as the head coach at Kecoughtan High School, we are confident he is ready to lead the Phantoms to greatness every day in every way.”
Coley’s appointment marks a new chapter for the Phantoms as the program looks to build on its tradition while continuing to support the growth and success of student-athletes.
