Youth Art Month kicks off with displays at City Hall and Charles Taylor Visual Arts Center

Hampton City Schools’ visual and performing arts department celebrates Youth Art Month in cooperation with the city of Hampton, by displaying elementary student artwork from elementary grade levels in the lobby of City Hall (22 Lincoln Street) and secondary student artwork at the Charles Taylor Visual Arts Center (4205 Victoria Blvd.). The art display at city hall kicks off with a reception on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The reception at the Charles Taylor Visual Arts Center will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.

Artwork at city hall may be viewed March 1 through 28 during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Artwork at the Charles Taylor Visual Arts Center may be viewed from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Tuesday-Saturday) March 1 through March 22.

Youth Art Month is a month of promoting art and art education in the United States. It is observed in March, with thousands of American schools participating, often with the involvement of local art museums and civic organizations. Youth Art Month was founded in 1961 under the name Children’s Art Month, but has evolved to include students at all grade levels.
