February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month is a time to recognize the importance of Career and Technical Education in preparing students for high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand careers. Across the country, and in Hampton City Schools, educators, and industry partners celebrate the impact of CTE programs in equipping students with the technical skills, academic knowledge, and real-world experiences needed for success in both college and careers.
Today’s rigorous and relevant CTE programs prepare students for a wide range of career opportunities. In dynamic, high-tech classrooms that model business and industry standards, students develop critical thinking, teamwork, decision-making, and leadership skills. CTE provides hands-on learning that allows students to apply knowledge from other courses, making education more engaging, practical, and career-focused. Through experiential learning and exposure to industry standards, students gain the skills needed to navigate and choose fulfilling careers in high-demand fields.
CTE programs span a variety of career areas, including agriculture, business, and information technology, career connections, family and consumer sciences, health and medical sciences, marketing, Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC), technology and engineering, and trade and industrial education. These programs align with all career clusters, ensuring students are prepared for a broad range of professional pathways.
From hands-on learning in cutting-edge fields to industry-recognized credentials and work-based learning opportunities, CTE helps bridge the gap between education and workforce readiness. Join us this month as we highlight the achievements of CTE students, educators, and programs shaping the future workforce!
During CTE Month, we not only recognize the impact of career and technical education but also celebrate the incredible CTE teachers who make it all possible. These dedicated educators go beyond the classroom - preparing students with the skills, knowledge, and experiences they need to thrive in high-wage, high-demand careers.
CTE teachers are industry experts, mentors, and champions for student success. They bring learning to life through hands-on instruction, real-world problem-solving, and connections to business and industry. Their commitment to workforce readiness, innovation, and student achievement is shaping the future of our communities and economy.
