Armstrong School for the Arts helps break a world record
Students at Armstrong School for the Arts played a role in making history as participants in the 2025 Stack Up, a global attempt to set the world record for the most people sport stacking at multiple locations. Armstrong students joined 784,036 stackers from 2,429 schools and organizations across 15 countries who took part on November 18, 19, and 20, 2025, to help break the record.
Physical education teacher Andrea Samsky has made this exciting challenge an annual tradition for Armstrong students. Sport stacking, using specially designed cups to stack and unstack in set patterns, builds speed, coordination, and focus.
“While sport stacking is fun and fast-paced, it also helps students build essential skills like hand-eye coordination, bilateral movement, quick reaction time, and cross-lateral brain development—all of which strengthen learning in the classroom,” said Samantha Demyanyuk, health and wellness curriculum leader for Hampton City Schools.
By participating, Armstrong students stayed active, boosted their confidence, and contributed to a global achievement—proving once again that learning can be both meaningful and fun.
