HCS marching bands earn superior and excellent ratings at State Marching Band Assessments
The Bruin, Crabber, Phantom, and Warrior marching bands proudly earned superior and excellent ratings this fall at the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Marching Band assessments. A panel of five judges adjudicates all bands in the areas of music, marching, and general effect.
“Being in a high school marching band is valuable because it combines music and discipline in a dynamic, performance-driven environment. Students develop musical and leadership skills through public performances, build physical stamina, and gain confidence. Marching band fosters a strong sense of community, teaches time management, and promotes perseverance. It also creates memorable experiences and prepares students for future challenges in music and life,” said Ronzel Bell, Hampton High School band director.
“Their performances showcased the students' musical talent, precision, and dedication. Their achievement represents the hard work of the students and directors who spend months preparing for this milestone event each school year,” said Kelly Dee, visual and performing arts curriculum leader.
Congratulations to all the students, directors, and administrators for their outstanding achievements!
