Veronica Hurd, of the Academies of Hampton, receives doctorate
Congratulations to Dr. Veronica Hurd, director of the Academies of Hampton, for receiving her doctorate (Ph.D.) from Virginia Commonwealth University. The title of her dissertation is Exploring the STEM Career Identity Development of Black Women Across Their Lifespan.
Dr. Hurd has served as the director of the Academies of Hampton since 2016. She has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the transformational work within the Hampton School division.
Dr. Hurd holds a bachelors in communication from Christopher Newport University and a masters in life span and digital education from Old Dominion University.
“Dr. Hurd’s leadership has been instrumental in transforming teaching and learning across Hampton City Schools,” said Dr. James Harris, chief academic officer. “Her work has helped shape and expand the vision of the Academies of Hampton, ensuring students are engaged in future-ready, career-connected learning experiences. As a leader within the Ford Next Generation Learning network, she continues to elevate our community through her innovation, insight, and collaborative spirit. We are extremely proud of this incredible achievement, which is a testament to her dedication, perseverance, and commitment to educational excellence.”
