Hampton City Schools holds pre-kindergarten eligibility screening

Hampton City Schools is now making appointments for pre-kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year. Interested families should call Moton Early Childhood Center at 757-727-1061 to schedule an appointment. 

Children must be four years old on or before September 30, 2025. Parents/legal guardians must be present at the appointment.

The Hampton City Schools pre-kindergarten Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) application is a two-step process.

Step One is the eligibility screening using one of the following:

• In-person screening by calling 757-727-1061 to make an appointment

In order to complete Step One you will need the following documents:

• Proof of Residency

• Photo Identification

• Child’s State Issued Birth Certificate

• Income Verification

-Qualifying incomes must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty

Guidelines. Please see page 2 of flyer.

Step Two will be determined after review of the eligibility screener. The

screener must be completed before we are able to determine participation

in the VPI and move to the final step.
