Kaliyah Perry of Hampton High School named Basketball Coaches Association of Virginia Player of the Year
Hampton High School standout Kaliyah Perry has been named the Basketball Coaches Association of Virginia Player of the Year, cementing her status as one of the top high school basketball players in the state.
A 6’1” power forward, Perry has been a first-team all-state selection for three consecutive seasons, leading the Crabbers with an outstanding 27.2 points, 9.1 rebounds, five steals, and two assists per game this season. Her exceptional play helped guide Hampton to a 21-5 record, a Region 4A championship, and a state semifinal appearance.
Perry's dominance on the court was undeniable, recording seven 30+ point games and closing out her high school career with 1,136 total points and 664 rebounds. Her leadership was instrumental in the Crabbers’ 2023 Class 4 state championship victory and their 2024 state runner-up finish.
In championship play, she delivered 10 points and seven rebounds in the 2023 state title game against Pulaski County and led with 19 points and 17 rebounds in the 2024 state finals against Woodgrove.
Alongside her Virginia Player of the Year honor, Perry has also earned Regional Player of the Year (Two Years) and All-Tidewater First Team (Two Years).
Now set to take her talents to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Perry is poised for success at the collegiate level, continuing her legacy as one of Hampton’s finest athletes.
