Jones Magnet Middle School cheer team wins middle school championship

Congratulations to the Jones Magnet Middle School cheer team. They won the middle school championship edging out Tarrant Middle School and Phenix PreK-8 School who both tied for second place.

The Jones team is coached by Candace Webb and Emani Braxton with student coaches Taylor Reynolds and Samantha Young. The Tarrant team is coached by Tyshawna Hankerson. The Phenix team is coached by Karmen Gray and TyShea Carroll.

Sharon Slater, principal at Jones said, “I am so proud of our Jones cheerleaders for winning first place in the first-ever Hampton City Schools Middle School Cheerleading Competition! Their hard work, dedication, and Jaguar pride truly shined on the floor. This accomplishment is a testament not only to the talent and commitment of our cheerleaders, but also to the incredible guidance of our coaches who have poured their hearts into preparing the team. The event itself was an exciting celebration of the energy and spirit found in all of our Hampton middle schools. What a powerful reminder of the amazing things our students can achieve!”
