Pembroke High School Alumni Association partners with Andrews PreK-8 School
In late 2024, Archi Trapp, president of the Pembroke High School Alumni Association, reached out to explore how the organization could support Andrews PreK-8 School. His outreach marked the beginning of a meaningful and growing partnership focused on uplifting the Andrews students and school community.
In December 2024, Trapp extended an invitation for Andrews families to benefit from a generous Toys for Tots initiative on the Southside of Hampton Roads. Thanks to this opportunity, Andrews was able to provide toys to several of their students and their younger siblings—bringing joy and relief to many during the holiday season.
By January 2025, April Howard, family engagement specialist at Andrews, had the pleasure of speaking at one of the Pembroke Alumni Association’s meetings. This provided a valuable opportunity to share insights about the school’s demographics, needs, and potential partnership opportunities. Howard shared that any donated funds would be used to support academic and behavioral incentives, much-needed supplies, and teacher appreciation efforts.
The Andrews family is thrilled to share that on April 15, Trapp, along with Pembroke Alumni Association supporter Dr. Desiree Darden, presented a generous check for $1,152 to Andrews PreK-8. These funds are designated to directly support teaching and learning initiatives in the school.
Trapp shared that Andrews PreK-8 was chosen as a recipient because it is a Title I school that could benefit from additional support to promote academic success. Many former Pembroke High School students once lived in neighborhoods near Andrews, and the alumni association is passionate about giving back to the communities they once called home.
“We are deeply grateful to Mr. Trapp, Dr. Darden, and the entire Pembroke High School Alumni Association for their commitment to our students and for investing in our school’s future,” said Howard.
