HCS kindergarten registration now open

Hampton City Schools is enrolling kindergarteners for the 2025–2026 school year. Children must be five years old on or before September 30, 2025, to be eligible.

Registration takes place at your child’s zoned school—contact the school directly to schedule an appointment.

Parents are requested to bring the following to register their child:

• Proof of residency – this can be a mortgage/lease statement or a current public utility bill such as water, electric or gas, or a residency affidavit (available at any school office)
• Child’s state-issued birth certificate
• Child’s physical health form (dated within 12 months of school start date) and immunization record. If the parent is unable to provide a physical and an up-to-date immunization record at the time of registration, please note that these documents MUST be submitted prior to the first day of school.
• Custody papers (if applicable)
• Photo identification of parent or guardian

Parents of children who turn five in October or November 2025 may request early kindergarten admission for the 2025–2026 school year. Eligibility is based on an assessment.

To schedule an evaluation, please contact the office of elementary school leadership at 757-727-2130. Please note: assessment results determine eligibility, and the decision is final—no appeals will be accepted.
