Important Information for Friday, January 21, 2022 - All HCS Students will Participate in Virtual Instruction (School Buildings Closed for In-person Learning)

HCS will close all school buildings and administrative offices and utilize virtual teaching and learning tomorrow, Friday, January 21. In order to protect instructional time, all K-12 students will participate in teacher-led live Zoom lessons, and students may also be assigned independent work to complete on their own. Learning packets have been distributed to PreK students to take home. Additionally, all evening sports practices and games are canceled for Friday as well as other evening school activities.

The bell/class schedule has been modified for virtual instruction and can be found below. High schools will continue to use the established traditional exam schedule (see below) and administer exams virtually. If your child’s teacher(s) has not already provided your child with their class Zoom link(s) to participate in virtual instruction tomorrow, they will do so by no later than 5 p.m. this evening.

Additionally, HCS Food & Nutrition Services offered students the opportunity to bring home a meal pack from school today. Meal packs include one breakfast and one snack per student.

This shift to virtual teaching and learning is due to the forecasted wintry conditions this evening as well as tomorrow afternoon, the forecasted below freezing temperatures overnight, and the expected hazardous roads throughout the two predicted storm systems. Based on the current forecasts, our area is not expected to experience widespread power outages. If your child is unable to connect during virtual instruction, please contact our HCS Technology Help Desk at 850-6875 for assistance.

Please note that HCS utilized our one banked student instructional day (as noted in our division calendar) on January 4, 2022, for inclement weather. By transitioning to virtual teaching and learning tomorrow, HCS will not need to make up this day to meet the required instruction time set by state code.
