Hampton City Schools public relations and marketing department wins awards

The Hampton City Schools public relations and marketing department, under the direction of executive director Kellie Goral, has received three awards from the Chesapeake Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (CHESPRA).

The division received an Award of Excellence (top award) in the website subsection for the Academies of Hampton website (http://aoh.hampton.k12.va.us/) and an Award of Merit (second place) in the same category for the TeachHampton.com website. In addition, they received an Award of Merit in the special event category for the School Board Appreciation (http://www.hampton.k12.va.us/news/2020Feb/boardappmonth.html) recognition. These were selected out of more than 75 CHESPRA award entries.
The purpose of the CHESPRA awards is to recognize outstanding communications produced by school divisions and local schools in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia and to encourage Chesapeake Chapter members to evaluate and enhance their communications.

“I am so proud of our public relations & marketing team which includes our graphics department (under the direction of Matt Houser), print shop and records (under the direction of Marty Wood), and PEG TV (under the direction of Andy Foley). Specifically, I would like to recognize our division’s webmaster/graphic designer, Vickie Carper, for all of her hard work creating the Academies of Hampton website and TeachHampton.com as well as Charnita Carmona, graphic designer, and PEG TV for their creativity in the development of the School Board appreciation event,” said Goral. “Individuals from each department push themselves daily to create and produce new items to assist in marketing the school division. It is an honor for us to be recognized on a regional level and have the exceptional work of the team showcased among other school divisions.
