Kecoughtan High School holds small business event for the community

The Kecoughtan High School Academy of Entrepreneurship & Information Design is holding The Festival For All event on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event was created to allow small businesses and vendors to showcase their products.

In the spring of 2023, the festival was created after the students realized that many small businesses were affected negatively by an economic disruption; COVID-19. As the Academy of Entrepreneurship & Information Design, they wanted a way to support the small business community.

‘We're excited to provide a platform for local small businesses to thrive and connect with the community,” said Olivia Washington, a student at the Academy of Entrepreneurship & Information Design. “Our goal is to pack the parking lot with as many vendors as possible and create a vibrant atmosphere that celebrates entrepreneurship.”

Interested vendors may sign up to join the festival and sell their products by using the QR code above. In addition, students may participate to gain community service hours.

“We are thrilled to host The Festival for All and support our local small businesses,” said  Dr. Dwayne Lucas, executive principal at Kecoughtan High School. “This event exemplifies our commitment to developing young leaders, fostering entrepreneurship, and promoting student-led community engagement.”
