Ellen Waters of Phillips Elementary School receives recognition from HAEOP

Ellen Waters, attendance clerk at Phillips Elementary School, was honored by the Hampton Association of Educational Office Professionals (HAEOP) on March 8, 2024. HAEOP co-president Falon Bone; vice president Stephanie Grantham; Ann McCloud, Phillips administrative secretary; and Phillips principal Dr. Rohan Cumberbatch-Smith surprised Waters at the school.

She was nominated by McCloud who said, “Ellen always goes the extra mile. She is always willing and eager to learn things and knows when to jump in and help out without being asked to. We are a team. I couldn’t ask for a better assistant.”

The recognition was created by HAEOP in the 2022-2023 school year as a way to recognize employees. Any employee in the school division can nominate any office professional to be recognized and state why this person is deserving of the recognition. Nominations are reviewed each month and the winning recipient is chosen at random. Members of HAEOP then go to the winner’s school or office and surprise them with a gift basket.
